Honda Rearview Report: March 22 - March 28, 2014

"Why would a car company set out to build one of the world’s most energy efficient and technologically advanced smart homes?  Together, American homes and cars produce almost half of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions. Honda Smart Home US represents our vision for zero carbon living and mobility. Over the course of a year, the home’s solar panels generate all the electricity needed for the home and the Honda Fit EV in the garage.

More than a demonstration project, Honda Smart Home is truly a living lab where we will evaluate new technology at the intersection of technology, energy and the environment. Whether or not Honda ultimately decides to commercialize these technologies, it’s critical that we understand them in order to build vehicles that integrate effectively into tomorrow’s energy landscape. Our hope is that by demonstrating these technologies, we will join a critical public conversation that is already taking place about what we can do, today and in the future, to address global climate change."

- Steven Center, Vice President, Honda Environmental Business Development Office
