American Honda Light Truck Sales Set New February Record
Overall Sales Decline 4.6 Percent From Record '01 Month

Record February light truck sales were not quite enough to offset a drop in car sales, as overall American Honda sales of 86,848 were down 4.6 percent from a record February 2001, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

The new light truck February sales record of 29,016 was an increase of 28.5 percent. Sales of the Acura MDX set a new single month record of 4,365, up 14.9 percent. Sales of the all-new CR-V were up 61.6 percent to 11,608 and Odyssey sales of 12,379 were up 23.1 percent, both February records. Inventory levels of all three vehicles remain tight.

"The consumer shift to light trucks, especially car-like SUVs, continues unabated in 2002," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president. "Our light truck sales would have been even stronger, except for inventory shortages for the Odyssey, CR-V and MDX."
