Total American Honda February sales of 86,726 set a new record for the month and were up 1.6% from the previous mark set last year, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Year-to-date American Honda sales rose to 161,332 and are 2.6 percent ahead of 1999's all-time record pace.

Acura Division sales of 10,135 increased 18.4 percent from last year and broke a 10-year-old February record in the process. The Acura TL led the way, with its second-best sales month ever of 5,846, a 57.9 percent increase from last year. Acura sales will get another boost this month with the release of the all-new CL Coupe.

Booming sales of the Honda Odyssey minivan hit 10,640, an increase of 101.8 percent from last February and the second-best month ever for Odyssey sales. The strong Odyssey showing and a 6.2 percent increase in Civic sales to 24,747, pushed Honda Division sales to a new high for the month of 76,591.
