Now in its seventh year, Acura offers a full range of models from the Integra sports sedans to the revolutionary mid-engine exotic NSX sports car. "In September 1992, Acura total unit sales passed the 800,000 mark since starting operations in 1986. Since 1987, Acura has been the number one selling luxury performance import in the U.S. The new engineering refinements for 1993 provide additional appeal to our automobiles and will further strengthen Acura sales," stated Ed Taylor, Vice President, Acura Division.
For 1993, the exotic, all-aluminum NSX sports car receives a driver's and passenger's side air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and automatic seat belt tensioners as standard equipment. It also receives a redesigned center console with an integral beverage holder. The NSX features a 270-hp, all-aluminum V-6 equipped with the Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system and Variable Volume Induction System. The chassis features an all-aluminum double-wishbone suspension system, 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes and a 4-channel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS).
The Legend Sedan, powered by a 200-hp, all-aluminum, 24-valve V-6 engine and equipped with a double-wishbone suspension and four-wheel disc brakes with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), features a host of safety and refinement improvements for the 1993 model year. All Legend models now feature a driver's and passenger's side air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with automatic seat belt tensioners as standard equipment. The LS model also features a newly developed Acura/Bose® Premium Music System, while the L model now features an advanced Acura/Bose® Music System and body-colored side mouldings.
All Legend Sedan models have been further refined with even lower noise, vibration and harshness levels. This was accomplished by the use of a newly developed engine and transmission mounting system and by adding additional sound- and vibration-reducing materials. Part of this program includes thicker window glass and a smoother-shifting automatic transmission. All models also receive newly designed alloy wheels.
For 1993, the Vigor GS model features a driver's and passenger's side air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and body-colored side mouldings as standard equipment. All models feature increased rear seat leg room, improved automatic transmission shift smoothness and greater levels of noise, vibration and harshness suppression. The Vigor Sedan is now available in two additional colors, Solaris Silver Metallic and Arcadia Green Pearl. All Vigor models are equipped with a 176-hp, inline 5-cylinder engine and feature four-wheel, double-wishbone suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and a standard Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS).
The 1993 Integra 3-door and 4-door sports sedans feature a loB-liter, 140-hp, Programmed Fuel Injected (PGM-FD, 4-valve-per-cylinder, dual overhead camshaft, all-aluminum inline 4-cylinder engine. The refined chassis features double-wishbone suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) on GS models. The interior is trimmed with a rich moquette fabric; Granada Black Pearl GS models are available with optional leather-trimmed seat surfaces.
The 1993 Integra GS-R, which was introduced last year, features a 160-hp, l.7-liter high-performance engine equipped with the same Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system pioneered in the NSX. The GS-R features an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), aluminum-alloy wheels, a power moonroof, power windows, a rear spoiler and body-colored side mouldings as standard equipment.
In 1993, the Integra line will include the LS Special. This model offers additional standard features such as leather-trimmed seats, body-colored side mouldings, alloy wheels with high-performance Michelin XGT-V4 tires and a rear spoiler. The LS Special is powered by the same 140-hp, l.8-liter engine as the RS, LS and GS models.
