Television's MotorWeek today presented its 2001 Drivers' Choice Award for "Best Family Sport-Utility Vehicle" to the all-new 2001 Acura MDX. The announcement was made at the Chicago Auto Show.
The MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards, now in their 19th year, are designed to select vehicles that offer the most value for the dollar. MotorWeek considers all types of consumers while making its choices, including buyers with varying family sizes, budgets and style preferences.
"The response to the new MDX has been overwhelmingly positive from both consumers and automotive journalists," said Dick Colliver, Acura's executive vice president. "We are proud that so many automotive experts consider the MDX to be the benchmark for luxury SUVs."
The MotorWeek honors round out a grand slam of major awards for the Acura MDX: "North American Truck of the Year" at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, Motor Trend "Sport/Utility of the Year," and it was chosen as best vehicle in its class in a recent comparison test of luxury SUVs by the editors of Car and Driver magazine.
The Acura MDX offers exceptionally high standard performance and luxury, including best-in-class performance and fuel economy in combination with five-star level safety, ultra-low emissions and a uniquely transformable seven-passenger interior.
The Acura MDX and Drivers' Choice honorees in other categories will be featured on MotorWeek, the automotive television magazine, on PBS beginning Feb. 17, 2001, and on sports cable channel SpeedVision (check local listings).
