Sales: American Honda Reports January Sales Increase; Civic Up Nearly 50 Percent

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today reported January 2012 monthly new-vehicle sales of 83,009, an increase of 8.8 percent over January 2011. The Honda Division posted January 2012 sales of 74,628, an increase of 9.3 percent year-over-year.

In its first full month of sales, the all-new Honda CR-V set a January record with sales of 18,960, up 16.0 percent over last year's record-setting total of 16,339. The Civic also continued to build momentum with sales of 21,883, up an impressive 49.5 percent compared to January 2011. The Accord posted January sales of 13,659, up 1.5 percent from the same period last year. Honda's Ridgeline pickup posted its second consecutive month of double-digit sales growth, up 45.6 percent year-over-year to 1,245 units.

"Honda's return to full strength on the manufacturing front is already beginning to pay dividends on the sales floor," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales. "On top of kicking off 2012 with record January sales for the new CR-V, it's gratifying to see how many Civics we can sell when we actually have Civics to sell. It's great to see customers embrace this great vehicle now that our dealers have enough cars on their lots."

The Acura Division's January sales totaled 8,381, up 5.3 percent compared to January 2011, with two models registering strong sales increases. Sales of the TL sedan reached 2,283, up 43.4 percent from the same period last year, while TSX sales totaled 2,266, a year-over-year increase of 16.7 percent.

Sales: American Honda Reports December Sales

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today reported December monthly new-vehicle sales of 105,230, a decrease of 18.8 percent on a daily selling-rate* basis. American Honda's 2011 annual vehicle sales totaled 1,147,285, a decrease of 7.1 percent compared to 2010.

The Honda Division's December monthly sales of 92,101 represented a decrease of 19.3 percent compared to 2010. Honda Division's 2011 annual sales of 1,023,986 decreased 6.9 percent compared to 2010. The three top-selling Honda models for 2011 were Accord, 235,625; Civic, 221,235; and CR-V, 218,373.

"As we eagerly close one of the most challenging years American Honda has weathered, we are well-positioned for a strong 2012," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales. "Although we still had low inventory in December, our production levels are now back to normal. The new year brings the promise of positive momentum with the all-new CR-V now on sale and a concept version of the ninth-generation 2013 Honda Accord Coupe to be unveiled next week at the North American International Auto Show."

Monthly Odyssey sales increased by 13.2 percent to 11,489, and Pilot sales increased 12.6 percent to 11,641. Additional models with monthly sales gains included Fit, up 5.7 percent to 5,138, setting a new December sales record, and Ridgeline with a sales increase of 21.2 percent to 1,468.

The Acura Division's year-end sales totaled 123,299, down 8.0 percent compared to 2010 results. December Acura sales totaled 13,129, a decrease of 15.2 percent. The MDX led the division with annual sales of 43,271, followed by the TL with sales of 31,237 and the TSX with sales of 30,935.

Sales: American Honda Reports November Sales

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted November sales of 83,925 vehicles, a decrease of 10.1 percent, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 1,042,055, down 5.7 percent versus last year, based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted November sales of 74,016, a decrease of 9.9 percent versus November 2010. The Pilot continued its momentum with sales of 10,487, up 32.6 percent. The Civic was the top-selling Honda model for November with sales of 17,133, a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to last year. The CR-V posted sales of 16,426, a decrease of 13.7. The Accord posted sales of 14,355 a decrease of 17.9 percent.

"The impact of the Thailand flooding on our North American production levels continued to be felt in November," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales. "We're looking forward to closing the year on a strong note as production recovers and the all-new CR-V goes on sale this month."

Acura Division recorded November sales of 9,909, a decrease of 11.2 percent versus November 2010, and year-to-date sales of 110,170, down 7.1 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with November sales of 3,308 down 24.2 percent. The TSX posted record November sales of 2,691.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted October sales of 98,333 vehicles, an increase of 3.3 percent, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 958,130, down 5.3 percent versus last year, based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted October sales of 87,218, an increase of 3.2 percent versus October 2010. Honda trucks posted October sales of 44,852, an increase of 12.3 percent due to strong sales of the Pilot, CR-V and Odyssey. The Pilot showed the largest sales gain for October, with sales of 12,466, up 58.5 percent. The CR-V posted a sales increase of 11.2 percent on sales of 19,326 and the Odyssey posted a sales increase of 8.6 percent on sales of 10,415. The Accord recorded sales of 22,589, up 9.4 percent and the Civic, posted monthly sales of 16,173, down 1.9 percent.

"As dealer inventories continued to replenish in October, we saw increased momentum over last month’s sales," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales. “We look forward to continued strong demand for our products despite these continuing challenging times due to the flooding in Thailand and ensuing production limitations.”

Acura Division recorded October sales of 11,115, an increase of 4.8 percent versus October 2010, and year-to-date sales of 100,261, down 6.6 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with October sales of 3,691 down 2.8 percent. The TSX posted record October sales of 2,977, an increase of 37.3 percent.

Sales: American Honda Reports September Sales

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted September sales of 89,532 vehicles, a decrease of 8.0 percent, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 859,797, down 6.2 percent versus last year, based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted September sales of 79,522, a drop of 8.2 percent versus September 2010. Honda trucks posted sales of 41,375, an increase of 7.0 percent due to strong sales of the CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey. The CR-V was the top-selling model for September, with sales of 19,604, up 9.5 percent. The Pilot posted a sales increase of 27.9 percent on sales of 10,306. The Accord recorded sales of 18,639, down 13.8 percent and the Civic, which is nearing full production, posted monthly sales of 13,724, down 26.4 percent.

"Our U.S. manufacturing facilities are finally up to full production and the results are starting to show with increased CR-V, Pilot and Odyssey sales,” said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales. "Truckloads of new vehicles began arriving the last week of September and shoppers can now feel more confident that they will find what they want at their local Honda dealer."

Acura Division recorded September sales of 10,010, a decrease of 6.6 percent versus September 2010, and year-to-date sales of 89,146, down 7.9 percent. The TSX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with record September sales of 3,112 up 37.9 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted August sales of 82,321 vehicles, a decrease of 27.2 percent, based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 770,265, down 6.0 percent versus last year. Although production limitations caused by the March 11 earthquake in Japan continue to improve, reduced vehicle supplies adversely affected August sales results.

Honda Division posted August sales of 73,267, a decrease of 27.5 percent versus August 2010. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for August with sales of 18,439, a decrease of 21.2 percent compared to last year, followed by the CR-V with sales of 16,572, a decrease of 18.1 percent. The Pilot SUV posted sales of 9,825, an increase of 11.4 percent versus last year.

“The production plan for most of our models returned to 100 percent by late August at all of our North American factories,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “A greater selection of vehicles is beginning to arrive at dealers this month as the company continues to recover from temporary supply disruptions.”

Acura Division recorded August sales of 9,054, a decrease of 24.5 percent versus August 2010, and year-to-date sales of 79,136, down 8.1 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,126, down 31.5 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted July sales of 80,502 vehicles, a decrease of 25.6 percent, based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 687,944, down 2.6 percent versus last year.

Honda Division posted July sales of 71,100, a drop of 25.7 percent versus July 2010. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for July with sales of 18,308, a decrease of 25.1 percent compared to last year. The all-new Civic, which continues to be produced at reduced levels, posted sales of 14,006, down 37.4 percent. The Pilot SUV posted sales of 9,954, an increase of 8.0 percent versus last year.

"We look forward to improved inventory levels in the coming months as most of our North American facilities begin to return to full production in August," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales. "On top of that good news, customers will have two significantly updated Honda products to choose from this month with the refreshed 2012 Pilot and Fit hitting dealer lots soon."

Acura Division recorded July sales of 9,402, a decrease of 25.0 percent versus July 2010, and year-to-date sales of 70,082, down 5.5 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,438 down 14.9 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted June sales of 83,892 vehicles, a decrease of 24.3 percent, based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 607,442, an increase of 1.6 percent versus last year, based on the daily selling rate*. Although production limitations caused by the March 11 earthquake in Japan continued to improve, reduced vehicle supplies adversely affected June sales results.

Honda Division posted June sales of 75,184, a decrease of 24.5 percent versus June 2010. The Civic was the top-selling Honda model for June with sales of 17,485, a decrease of 36.5 percent compared to last year. The Accord posted sales of 17,107, a decrease of 38.6 percent. Sales of the sub-compact Fit increased 20.0 percent to 4,912, demonstrating continued strong demand for versatile, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Acura Division recorded June sales of 8,708, a decrease of 22.8 percent versus June 2010, and year-to-date sales of 60,680, a decrease of 1.4 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,374, down 15.7 percent.

Sales: American Honda Reports May Sales Results

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted May sales of 90,773, a decrease of 16.1 percent based on the daily selling rate* compared to May 2010 results the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales of 523,550 represent an increase of 7.4 percent compared to last year.

Honda Division May 2011 sales were 81,773, a decrease of 16.0 percent versus May 2010. The all-new, redesigned Odyssey minivan posted sales of 9,428, an increase of 5.5 percent. The Fit posted an increase of 46.3 percent with sales of 5,921. Civic led the division with sales of 18,341. Accord reported sales of 18,185 units for the month. The CR-V posted May sales of 16,307.

"May sales are on par with what we expected due to the lingering effects of parts and production shortages resulting from the devastating March 11 earthquake in Japan," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "We are confident that sales will rebound as our North American plants reach 100-percent production capacity for most models in August."

Acura Division posted May sales of 9,000 units, a decrease of 17.1 percent from the same period last year. The MDX luxury sport utility vehicle led the division with sales of 3,824, an increase of 1.9 percent over May 2010.

Sales: American Honda Reports April Sales Increase of 5.7 Percent

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted April sales of 124,799, an increase of 5.7 percent based on the daily selling rate* compared to April 2010 results of 113,697, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales of 432,777 represent an increase of 14.6 percent based on the daily selling rate*.

Record-breaking April sales of the CR-V, Fit and Insight pushed April sales of the Honda Division monthly sales to 113,195, an increase of 5.9 percent versus April 2010. The CR-V crossover utility vehicle was up 25.3 percent for the month to an April record of 21,683. Sales of the sub-compact Fit increased by 66.3 percent to an April record of 8,116 and the Insight hybrid increased by 35.4 percent to an April record of 2,644 units. Sales of Honda cars increased 6.7 percent overall for the month to 67,536, with Accord and Civic selling 30,310 and 26,777, respectively, for April.

"Honda had another very strong month led by Accord, Civic and CR-V. In fact, sales of the versatile and refined Honda CR-V, America's best-selling SUV, broke records for the third consecutive month," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "While our current dealer supply of vehicles remains adequate, we know that production constraints may start to affect sales into the summer months. However, we are working closely with our dealers, and together we are committed to continue our focus to support the needs of our customers."

Acura Division April 2011 sales increased 4.2 percent to 11,604 compared to April 2010. The MDX luxury sport utility vehicle led the division with sales of 3,912, an increase of 1.4 percent over April 2010.

Sales: American Honda March Sales Up 18.9 Percent

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted March sales of 133,650, an increase of 18.9 percent based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. March marks the sixth straight month of double-digit sales increases for American Honda. Year-to-date sales of 307,978 represent an increase of 18.5 percent based on the daily selling rate*.

Sales of fuel-efficient Honda vehicles led the division to March sales of 121,039, an increase of 20.7 percent compared to March 2010. March sales of Honda cars increased by 29.1 percent to 74,168, led by the Accord, up 11.2 percent to 33,616; the Civic, up 33.8 percent to 31,213; and the Fit, up 43.4 percent on record March sales of 6,955. Honda hybrids also posted strong sales, with the Insight up 62.2 percent on record March sales of 2,782. The CR-V, the best-selling SUV in America, posted record sales for the second straight month, up 42.7 percent to 21,998.

"While we are extremely pleased with this month's sales performance, our foremost thoughts are with the Japanese people during this difficult time," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "We know there will be challenges in the coming months as we continue to deal with supply chain issues resulting from the devastating earthquake in Japan, and we continue to appreciate everyone's patience and understanding."

Acura Division posted sales of 12,611 for March, an increase of 3.6 percent. The Acura MDX led the division with sales of 4,113, an increase of 20.7 percent, followed by the TL with sales of 3,995.

Sales: American Honda February Sales Up 21.6 Percent

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted February sales of 98,059, an increase of 21.6 percent compared to February 2010, the company announced today. February marks the fifth straight month of double-digit sales increases for American Honda. Year-to-date sales of 174,328 represent an increase of 17.7 percent.

Honda Division posted February sales of 87,263, an increase of 21.7 percent compared to February 2010, with sales of light truck models increasing 31.8 percent to 39,923. Honda CR-V sales of 19,096 led light truck models, increasing by 61.4 percent and breaking the previous February 2008 sales record of 15,694. Additional light truck models with increased sales included the all-new Odyssey, up 17.3 percent to 8,744; the Pilot, up 23.3 percent to 8,224; and the Element, up 35.0 percent to 1,241. Car models with year-over-year sales increases included the Civic, up 16.1 percent to 19,121; and the Fit, up 43.6 percent to 4,200. Accord was the best-selling Honda vehicle for the month with sales of 22,916, up 2.0 percent.

"Honda models available with four-wheel drive like the CR-V and Pilot saw sales increase significantly in February as people looked for ways to outsmart the bad weather," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The versatile, efficient and capable CR-V continues to solidify its position as the best-selling* SUV in America by setting a new monthly record."

Acura Division sales increased 20.8 percent to 10,796. The Acura MDX led the division with sales of 3,845, an increase of 17.7 percent. Sales of the TSX increased 31.6 percent to 2,794, beating the previous February record of 2,769 set in 2007. RDX sales of 1,344 represent a 58.1 percent increase for the model.

*The CR-V continues to be the best-selling SUV in the United States for the fifth straight year with calendar-year 2010 results of 203,714.

Sales: American Honda Reports January Sales Increase of 13 Percent

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted January sales of 76,269 vehicles, an increase of 13.0 percent, the company announced today. Honda Division posted January sales of 68,308, an increase of 13.2 percent versus January 2010.

The CR-V was the top-selling Honda model with record January sales of 16,339, up 68.9 percent, leading overall Honda Division light-truck sales of 33,455, a 48.0 percent increase. The all-new 2011 Odyssey continued to win new customers with sales of 7,022, up 44.4 percent, and the Pilot had a strong showing with 6,703, up 37.8 percent. Amid an overall Honda Division car sales decrease of 7.6 percent to 34,853, the fuel-efficient Insight hybrid set a new January sales record of 1,554, up 18.9 percent from the prior year, and sales of the versatile Fit increased 60.0 percent to 4,314.

"January is traditionally a challenging sales month after a strong year-end push, and we're happy to see strong interest in our light trucks and small cars," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "With the top-selling CR-V and all-new Odyssey selling extremely well, we look forward to growing our business further in 2011."

Acura Division posted January sales of 7,961, an increase of 11.6 percent versus January 2010, marking the division's 12th straight month of double-digit sales increases. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,127, up 32.6 percent. Acura TSX sales totaled 1,941, up 7.5 percent, followed by the TL with sales of 1,592, down 19.8 percent.

Sales: American Honda December Sales Up 25.5 Percent

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today reported December monthly new vehicle sales of 129,616, an increase of 25.5 percent on a daily selling-rate* basis. American Honda's 2010 annual vehicle sales totaled 1,230,480, an increase of 7.6 percent compared to 2009 results.

The Honda Division's December monthly sales of 114,127 represented an increase of 22.6 percent compared to 2009 results. Honda Division's 2010 annual sales of 1,096,874 increased 5.6 percent compared to 2009 results. The top-three best-selling Honda models for 2010 were Accord, 311,381; Civic, 260,218; and CR-V, 203,714.

"Increased sales of core models - Accord, Civic, and CR-V - along with the strong performance from new introductions, including the Accord Crosstour and Odyssey, all contributed to make 2010 a year of steady growth for American Honda," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Moving into 2011, we look to build on this momentum with multiple all-new or revised product introductions. We are confident that the entire Honda and Acura portfolio of vehicles will be well-positioned to meet the demands of an evolving market."

Monthly Civic sales increased by 31.3 percent to 28,263, setting a new December sales record. The CR-V, the country's best-selling SUV for the fifth year in a row, increased sales by 28.3 percent to 23,125, also setting a new December record. Accord monthly sales increased 18.9 percent for December to 32,381.

Additional models with monthly sales gains included the redesigned Odyssey, up 17.4 percent to 10,147; the Pilot, up 16.7 percent to 10,337; and the Fit, up 10.3 percent to 4,860.

The Acura Division's year-end sales totaled 133,606, up 27.2 percent compared to 2009 results. December Acura sales totaled 15,489, an increase of 51.9 percent. The MDX led the division with annual sales of 47,210, followed by the TL with sales of 34,049.

December TSX sales increased 55.7 percent to 4,393, setting a new December record. Additional Acura models with monthly sales gains included the MDX, up 110.6 percent, to 5,887; the TL, up 7.2 percent to 3,275; and the RDX, up 24.5 percent to 1,540.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted November sales of 89,617 vehicles, an increase of 16.1 percent based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 1,100,864, an increase of 5.9 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate.

Honda Division posted November sales of 78,899, an increase of 15.9 percent versus last year. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for the month with sales of 19,025, up 5.8 percent, followed by the CR-V with sales of 18,263, up 25.4 percent, and the Civic with sales of 16,562, up 16.3 percent. The all-new 2011 Odyssey continued to build momentum in its second full month of sales with 8,805 units, up 31.7 percent. Overall, Honda Division light-truck sales increased 24.7 percent to 38,802 and car sales increased 8.5 percent to 40,097.

"Our Acura Division sales continue to be strong, led by red hot year-to-date sales of our MDX and RDX SUVs," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "And with the newly released Odyssey minivan and CR-Z sport hybrid selling well, we look forward to a good year end."

Acura Division posted November sales of 10,718, an increase of 17.1 percent versus November 2009, and year-to-date sales reached 118,117, an increase of 24.6 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 4,191, up 15.9 percent. Acura TSX sales totaled 2,589, up 16.7 percent, followed by the TL with sales of 2,431, up 13.1 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted October sales of 98,811 vehicles, an increase of 19.8 percent based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 1,011,247, an increase of 5.1 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate.

Honda Division posted October sales of 87,800, an increase of 20.2 percent versus last year. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for the month with sales of 24,344, up 8.8 percent, followed by the CR-V with sales of 18,040, up 19.4 percent, and the Civic with sales of 17,121, up 11.9 percent. The availability of the all-new 2011 Odyssey, in its first full month on the market, contributed to that model’s increase of 52.2 percent for a total of 9,955. Overall, Honda Division light-truck sales increased 37.8 percent to 41,463.

"The all-new Odyssey is off to a strong start in its first full month on the market," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The redesigned minivan brings the right balance of functionality, upscale features and fuel economy, just as the light-truck segment begins to gain momentum."

Acura Division posted October sales of 11,011, an increase of 17.1 percent versus October 2009, and year-to-date sales reached 107,399, an increase of 25.3 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 3,945, up 6.7 percent. Acura TL sales totaled 3,042, up 25.6 percent, followed by the TSX with sales of 2,251, up 1.6 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted September sales of 97,361 vehicles, an increase of 26.1 percent, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 912,436, an increase of 3.7 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate*. Acura Division posted September sales of 10,720, an increase of 47.7 percent versus September 2009, and year-to-date sales reached 96,388, an increase of 26.3 percent based on the daily selling rate.

Honda Division posted September sales of 86,641, an increase of 23.8 percent versus last year. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for September with sales of 24,127, up 15.9 percent, followed by the Civic with sales of 18,637, up 15.8 percent. Sales of Honda light trucks, up 38.2 percent, were led by the CR-V, up 23.0 percent to 17,907, and the Pilot, up 48.2 percent to 8,059. In line with expectations, sales of the all-new CR-Z sport hybrid coupe totaled 1,236 in its first full month on the market.

"Both Honda and Acura Divisions have car and light-truck products with significant momentum in the marketplace," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Capped by September’s 47.7 percent increase, Acura Division sales have been up for eight straight months."

Acura Division’s MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 4,077, up 83.6 percent. Combined with RDX sales of 1,382, up 83.8 percent, Acura light truck sales increased 92.1 percent for the month. Acura TL sales totaled 2,514, up 23.6 percent, followed by the TSX with sales of 2,256, up 7.3 percent.

Sales: American Honda Reports August Sales

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted August sales of 108,729 vehicles, a decrease of 30.0 percent, based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. The decrease in monthly sales reflects elevated August 2009 results from the federal government's Car Allowance Rebate System, or "Cash for Clunkers." American Honda year-to-date sales reached 815,075, an increase of 1.5 percent versus last year.

Honda Division posted August sales of 97,195, a decrease of 33.4 percent versus August 2009. The Pilot and Odyssey both posted sales increases, up 13.1 percent and 8.7 percent, respectively. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for August with sales of 25,148, followed by the Civic with 22,803. August 24th also marked the start of sales for the all-new CR-Z sport hybrid coupe.

"We've known that August comparisons would be irrelevant due to the 'Cash for Clunkers' program last year," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The good news is that we continue to see increasing demand for Honda products as customers seek even greater value."

Acura Division posted August sales of 11,534, an increase of 24.6 percent versus August 2009, and year-to-date sales reached 85,668, an increase of 24.1 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 4,386, up 61.8 percent. The RDX also posted strong sales, up 75.1 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted July sales of 112,437 vehicles, a decrease of 5.6 percent, based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 706,346, an increase of 9.4 percent versus last year.

Honda Division posted July sales of 99,420, a decrease of 9.7 percent versus July 2009. Honda trucks posted sales of 44,823 up 23.4 percent, led by the CR-V, up 0.9 percent with sales of 20,058; the Odyssey up 37.8 percent with sales of 9,711; and the Pilot, up 45.4 percent with sales of 9,570. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for July with sales of 25,386, followed by the Civic with 23,231.

"A year ago the 'Cash for Clunkers' program began and sales of fuel-efficient Honda vehicles picked up quickly at the end of the month," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Although July sales declined versus last year, our sales increased compared to June 2010, which is a positive sign."

Acura Division posted July sales of 13,017, an increase of 44.7 percent versus July 2009, and year-to-date sales of 74,134, an increase of 24.1 percent. The RDX posted record July sales of 1,708, up 216.9 percent. The MDX was the top-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 4,194, up 63.4 percent. The TSX also posted strong sales, up 39.9 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted June sales of 106,627 vehicles, an increase of 6.2 percent, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 593,909, an increase of 12.6 percent versus last year, based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted June sales of 95,788, an increase of 4.0 percent versus June 2009, led by total car sales of 56,854, up 8.0 percent. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model for June with sales of 26,792, an increase of 11.8 percent compared to last year. The Civic posted sales of 26,474, an increase of 26.3 percent. Additional models with year-over-year increases included the CR-V, up 16.9 percent with sales of 16,041 and the Pilot, up 10.0 percent with sales of 8,986.

"June brought impressive double-digit sales gains for Honda's Accord, Civic and CR-V models," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted May sales of 117,173 vehicles, an increase of 19.1 percent, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales reached 487,282, an increase of 14.1 percent versus last year, based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted May sales of 105,407, an increase of 18.6 percent versus May 2009, led by total car sales of 62,597, up 20.5 percent. The Accord was the top-selling Honda model with sales of 30,077, an increase of 33.1 percent compared to last year. The Civic posted sales of 28,458, an increase of 37.3 percent. Additional models with year-over-year increases included the CR-V, up 22.5 percent with sales of 17,820; the Pilot, up 32.7 percent with sales of 9,834; and the Ridgeline, up 26.8 percent to 1,853.

"May marks the seventh straight month of sales increases for Honda," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "This speaks to Honda's focus on long-term, steady growth as the market continues to regain momentum."

Acura Division recorded May sales of 11,766, an increase of 24.3 percent versus May 2009, led by total light truck sales of 5,882, up 70.0 percent. MDX was the top-selling model for Acura, with sales of 4,064, up 65.5 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted April sales of 113,697, an increase of 12.5 percent compared to April 2009 results of 101,029, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales of 370,109 represent an increase of 12.6 percent based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted April sales of 102,978, an increase of 11.7 percent versus April 2009. Honda light-truck sales increased 38.1 percent for the month to 42,034. The CR-V crossover utility vehicle, up 36.8 percent; Odyssey minivan, up 11.8 percent; and Pilot sport utility vehicle, up 41.9 percent, accounted for the highest light-truck monthly sales with totals of 16,661, 10,628 and 9,322 units, respectively.

Acura Division April sales increased 21.6 percent to 10,719. The MDX luxury sport utility vehicle led the division with sales of 3,714, an increase of 58.9 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted March sales of 108,262 vehicles, an increase of 17.8 percent based on the daily selling rate*, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales of 256,412 represent an increase of 12.5 percent based on the daily selling rate.

Honda Division posted March sales of 96,540, an increase of 16.9 percent versus March 2009, and was led by total car sales of 55,341, up 7.8 percent. Accord sales increased 23.2 percent to 29,120, and Civic sales increased 4.6 percent to 22,463.

Every Honda light-truck model posted a sales increase for the month, up 31.9 percent overall, with total sales of 41,199. CR-V sales of 14,848 increased 10.2 percent, Odyssey sales of 10,670 increased 25.8 percent and Pilot sales of 10,432 increased 47.8 percent.

"Our truck models are seeing the biggest gains compared to last year," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Across the lineup, people are seeking long-term value and are placing a high priority on making smart purchase decisions."

Acura Division sales increased 25.2 percent to 11,722. Acura car sales posted an increase of 15.6 percent for a total of 7,152, led by TL sales of 3,917, an increase of 16.6 percent. TSX sales of 3,072, increased 15.6 percent. Acura MDX sales of 3,281, up 42.0 percent, led Acura total truck sales of 4,570, up 43.7 percent.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted February sales of 80,671, an increase of 12.7 percent when compared to February 2009 results of 71,575, the company announced today. American Honda year-to-date sales of 148,150 represent an increase of 8.2 percent based on the daily selling rate*.

Honda Division posted February sales of 71,732, an increase of 12.2 percent versus February 2009. The Accord lineup resulted in the most sales of any Honda nameplate for the month with 22,456, an increase of 40.6 percent. Additional models with year-over-year sales increases included the Civic, up 5.0 percent to 16,471; and the Odyssey, up 11.4 percent to 7,452.

"A year ago the economy and our industry were at a low point marked with great uncertainty," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "While we remain cautious, we're happy to see customers actively seeking Honda products like the all-new Accord Crosstour."

Acura Division sales increased 16.7 percent to 8,939. The MDX led the division with sales of 3,266, an increase of 64.9 percent.

Sales: Acura Announces January Sales Results

Total Acura sales for January reached 7,132, off 1.7 percent versus January 2009, based on the daily selling rate*. The MDX luxury SUV posted a 20.3 percent increase for January and was the best-selling Acura model for the month with sales of 2,358 units.

"The significant enhancements made to the MDX this year have kept it front and center in the luxury SUV segment," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. "With its bold new styling, added performance and technology upgrades, the MDX continues to set a high standard."

The TL performance luxury sedan posted January sales of 1,986 units and was the top-selling Acura sedan for the month. The TSX sports sedan reached monthly sales of 1,806 units. The RDX turbocharged SUV sold 700 units for the month. In its first full month on sale, the ZDX four-door sports coupe posted sales of 172 units.

Leading Honda January total car sales of 37,736 were Accord, up 35.6 percent to 20,759, and Civic, up 12.1 percent to 14,693. Honda light-truck sales decreased 11.2 percent to 22,611.

Sales: Honda Builds Record 84% of its 2009 U.S. Auto Sales in North America

An all-time high of 83.8 percent of the Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the United States in 2009 were produced* at the company's plants in North America, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. American Honda has maintained a local production rate of approximately 75 percent or higher since 1996.

Honda operates seven automobile plants in North America - four in the U.S., two in Canada and one in Mexico, producing fifteen different models, including the Civic sedan, coupe and GX (natural gas vehicle), Accord sedan, coupe and Crosstour, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, CR-V and Element, as well as the Acura TL, ZDX, RDX and MDX models.

Honda's North American plants produced a total of more than one million vehicles in 2009, including those for export and currently in dealer inventory. Of the more than 1.15 million Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the U.S. in 2009, the 83.8 percent local production rate is the highest percentage in the company's 27-year history of making automobiles in the region and by far the highest percentage for any international automaker in 2009.

"As part of our long-standing commitment to build Honda and Acura products close to our customers, we have steadily deepened our automobile manufacturing roots in the U.S. and the North America region," said Tetsuo Iwamura, president & CEO of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Using our flexible manufacturing capacity, we plan to continue to maintain our local production levels at approximately 80 percent of our annual sales."

Honda began production of the fuel efficient Honda Civic sedan at its seventh North American auto plant, in Greensburg, Indiana, in October 2008. In 2009, the company added production of two new crossover vehicles - the Honda Accord Crosstour, manufactured in East Liberty, Ohio, and the Acura ZDX, manufactured in Alliston, Ontario - along with the addition of fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine production at a new engine plant in Ontario, Canada.

Honda has exported nearly 960,000 automobiles from its plants in North America to more than 100 countries around the world since 1987, including approximately 27,000 vehicles in 2009, as well as exporting more than 300,000 component parts last year to be used in the assembly of Honda products in other nations.
In addition to automobile production, Honda operates three automobile engine plants in North America - two in the U.S. and one in Canada - along with two U.S. plants for the production of automatic transmissions and gear sets; a power equipment and small engine plant, in North Carolina; and a plant producing Honda all-terrain vehicles, in South Carolina.

Two additional new plants, for the production of the HondaJet advanced light jet and the GE Honda turbofan engine, are under construction in the communities of Greensboro and Burlington, North Carolina, respectively.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today reported December monthly sales of 107,143, an increase of 15.6 percent on a daily selling rate* basis. American Honda's 2009 annual vehicle sales totaled 1,150,784, a decline of 19.5 percent compared to 2008 results.

Honda Division's December monthly sales of 96,568 represented an increase of 18.9 percent compared to 2008. Honda Division's 2009 annual sales of 1,045,061 decreased 18.6 percent compared to 2008. The top three bestselling Honda models for 2009 were the Accord, 290,056; Civic, 259,722; and CRV, 191,214.

Accord monthly sales increased 17.3 percent for December to 28,238. Monthly Civic sales increased by 19.8 percent to 22,319. The CRV, the country's bestselling SUV in 2008 and 2009, increased sales by 24.5 percent to 18,686 for a new December sales record. Additional models with monthly sales gains included the Pilot, up 26.6 percent to 9,184, and the Odyssey, up 19.8 percent to 8,966.

"The good news is that the market appears to be stabilizing and we have more reasons for optimism in 2010," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. "There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel; let's hope it's not another train coming, but rather, brighter days ahead."

The Acura Division's yearend sales totaled 105,723, down 26.8 percent. December Acura sales totaled 10,575, down 8.1 percent. The TL led the division with annual sales of 33,620, followed closely by the MDX with sales of 31,178.

December TSX sales increased 17.9 percent to 2,926. December RDX sales increased 4.4 percent to 1,283. The much-anticipated Acura ZDX four-door sports coupe made its sales debut in the second half of the month.

"We're finding opportunities for growth in multiple areas of the market," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "Consumer interest is returning in several segments, including light trucks."

Acura Division sales increased 20.8 percent to 8,769. The MDX led the division with sales of 3,465, an increase of 79.3 percent. The TSX and RDX also recorded gains, up 35.0 percent and 50.5 percent, respectively.

Sales: American Honda Reports October Sales

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted total October vehicle sales of 85,502, a decline of 4.0 percent compared to October 2008, based on the daily selling rate*. Honda Division posted October sales of 75,751, a decline of five units versus October 2008.

Honda total car sales decreased by 4.4 percent, to 44,537. Honda light-truck sales decreased 2.3 percent, to 31,214. Models showing sales increases included Accord with sales of 23,210, up 13.1 percent; CR-V with sales of 15,667, up 14.7 percent; and Pilot with sales of 6,339, up 22.7 percent.
The Acura Division posted sales of 9,751 units, a decline of 7.0 percent compared to October 2008. The MDX was the best-selling vehicle with 3,834 units, up 23.0 percent; RDX was up 41.9 percent; and the TSX posted gains of 20.2 percent for the month.

*The daily selling rate is calculated with 28 days for October 2009 and 27 days for October 2008. The year-to-date daily selling rate is calculated with 257 days for both October 2009 and October 2008. All percentages reflect the daily selling rate.
