ASIMO will put its travelling shoes in the closet for a while after the completion of a successful summer tour that saw the world's most advanced humanoid robot perform for thousands of fans.
In addition to serving as the feature attraction at Disneyland's Honda ASIMO Theater, ASIMO completed nearly 40 demonstrations during a tour that began at the June 27-30 RoboCup World Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
The visit to the Netherlands was followed by a popular stop at the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) 2013 AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. More than 500,000 people attended the event and were able to see ASIMO perform 16 demonstrations in the HondaJet tent.
Following the July 29 - August 4 event in Wisconsin, ASIMO travelled across the country to Anaheim, California to participate in Disney's D23 Expo on August 9-11. Disney fans were able not only to see ASIMO display its state-of-the-art technologies in daily demonstrations, but were also invited to receive a limited-edition bronze medallion featuring the likeness of ASIMO as well as the Disney Innoventions logo.
Honda demonstrates ASIMO six times a day at Disneyland's Innoventions attraction. The "Say Hello to Honda's Asimo" show highlights ASIMO's unique capabilities including walking forward and backward, running nearly four mph, climbing stairs, and more.
