Michael Accavitti is senior vice president and general manager of the Acura Division for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. In this role, he oversees all Acura brand activities including sales, marketing, parts and service, and training. Accavitti took up his responsibilities as the chief executive for the Acura brand in the U.S. on April 1, 2014.
Accavitti joined American Honda in 2011 as vice president of National Marketing Operations with responsibility for brand advertising, digital marketing, auto shows and events for both the Honda and Acura automobile brands. In this role, he also oversaw the restructuring of the company's automobile advertising to a multi-agency structure for each automotive brand and for media buying. In 2013, Accavitti was appointed senior vice President of Automobile Operations, which added Product Planning, Logistics, Sales and Production Planning and Distribution, to his role.
Prior to joining Honda, Accavitti served as executive automotive advisor for Cisco Systems, where he developed new business and led innovation in the automotive space for Cisco's Global Enterprise Theater.
Earlier, Accavitti was with the Chrysler Corporation for 25 years, most recently serving as president and chief executive officer of the Dodge Brand and lead marketing executive for the Chrysler Group. He began his career with Chrysler as an industrial engineer and held various positions in engineering, production management, finance, international business development, product and brand planning, marketing, motorsports and street and racing technology.
Accavitti earned a bachelor's degree in science with a concentration in industrial engineering and management from Western Michigan University; an MBA from Wayne State University; and a juris doctorate from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University.
