Defect / Noncompliance Description

*Describe the defect or noncompliance:
The brake master cylinder may have been improperly fastened to the brake booster assembly during production, resulting in loose or missing tie rod nuts. During application of the brake pedal, a bending load may occur upon the brake booster assembly tie rod studs. As a result, the tie rod studs may break, leading to the brake master cylinder separating from the brake booster assembly and a failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 135 – Light vehicle brake systems.

*Describe the safety risk:
If the brake master cylinder separates from the brake booster assembly, the driver may experience diminished, or loss of, brake function, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Describe the cause:
The brake master cylinder was improperly fastened to the brake booster assembly during production.

Identify the Remedy

Describe the defect / noncompliance remedy program, including the manufacturer’s plan for reimbursement:
Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer. The dealer will inspect and replace the missing nuts and damaged brake booster assembly components, if necessary.

Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for
reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.

Identify the Recall Schedule

Describe the recall schedule for notifications:
Dealer notification is scheduled to being and end on or about 6/30/2023. Owner notification is scheduled to begin and end on or about 8/07/2023.
