The 1998 Indy Racing League series champion and 1999 Indianapolis 500 race winner, Kenny Brack brings extensive credentials as he reunites with Team Rahal and returns to the IRL IndyCar Series for the 2003 season, this time with Honda power.
The native Swede first came to the US in 1993, where he won the Barber-Saab Pro Series with six race wins. Returning to Europe for the next three years, Brack was a front-runner in the FIA Formula 3000 series, winning three races and finishing second in the championship in 1996.
Brack made his IRL debut in 1997, substituting for an injured Davy Jones at Galles Racing. He went on to lead three races that season and posted a pair of top-five results. Moving to A.J. Foyt Racing the next year, three consecutive race wins gave him the necessary momentum for the IRL crown. Returning with Foyt for 1999, he won at Indy and had three other top-five results to finish second in the championship.
Switching to CART and Team Rahal in 2000, Brack began his partnership with veteran engineer Don Halliday. He earned series Rookie of the Year honors and finished an impressive fourth overall in the season championship, scoring points in 15 of 20 races. More success followed in 2001, as Brack led the CART series with four wins-all on ovals-six poles and led a season-high 621 laps. He also led the championship for much of the season, and eventually finished second to Gil de Ferran.
Last year, Brack drove for the Target/Chip Ganassi team and scored a win at the season finale in Mexico City, leading to a sixth-place finish in the championship. That was followed by the opportunity to rejoin Team Rahal and the IRL for the 2003 season.
