When Paul Tracy was a young boy in suburban Toronto, he would often spend entire days at a local kart track. He still spends entire days at the track, but now it's the FedEx Championship Series and Tracy is one of the stars of the sport.

Last year, Tracy started the season in fine form, with third place finishes in Monterrey, Mexico and at Nazareth Speedway to become an early season championship points leader before a run of mechanical failures and crashes blunted his title challenge.

After becoming the youngest Canadian Formula Ford champion in history at age 16, Tracy progressed rapidly through the ranks of open wheel competition. Winning the Indy Lights title in 1990, he made his CART debut in 1991 driving for Dale Coyne Racing, then signed with Team Penske as a test driver, taking part in three more races that season.

Tracy's first full year of Champ Car competition came in 1993 and he made the most of the opportunity, winning five times to finish third in the PPG Cup points battle. More victories have followed almost every season. Tracy joined Team KOOL Green with Honda power in 1998, and continues to be a frequent race winner and championship contender.
