Honda Honors 54 Suppliers in North America for Outstanding Performance

  • Suppliers recognized for support of both mass production and service parts
  • Honda purchased $27 billion in parts from mass production suppliers in 2021
  • Another $1 billion in parts were purchased for use in serving customer vehicles

Honda has honored 54 North American suppliers for outstanding performance in supplying the company with parts and materials during 2021. The suppliers earned awards for supporting Honda with mass production parts and materials, as well as service parts that serve the needs of customers after they purchase a Honda or Acura product.

Honda purchased $27 billion in parts for mass production operations from North American suppliers in 2021, which supported the sales of more than 1.3 million Honda and Acura vehicles in North America. Honda also purchased more than $1 billion in parts from its Service Parts suppliers in North America.

Honda has recognized its suppliers with awards for over 35 years during its annual Honda Supplier Conference, which was conducted as a virtual event in 2022 for the second consecutive year.

Mass Production Supplier Awards
Honda recognized 35 suppliers for outstanding performance in providing parts and materials for mass production operations in 2021.  This includes awards in four categories – quality & delivery, value, innovation and sustainability. Also, for the first time, Honda recognized one supplier with an award for Distinguished Performance.

“Working together as one team with our suppliers has been critical to Honda in the face of the industrywide supply chain disruptions we have faced during the past year,” said Mike Lapham, general manager of procurement at Honda Development & Manufacturing of America. “The incredible teamwork we have received from our suppliers is more important than ever and will serve as a springboard to our future success as we enter the electrified era.”

The Distinguished Performance Award recognizes a supplier for exceptional performance in all areas of their business: cost, quality and delivery in the face of extraordinary business conditions. This year, DENSO International America, Inc. of Southfield, Michigan was honored with the Distinguished Performance Award.

The Supplier Sustainability Award is awarded to a company that is committed to social responsibility, based on leadership in the areas of compliance and ethics, environmental governance, diversity, health and safety, social and trade compliance. This year, Aisin World Corporation of America of Marion, Illinois received the Sustainability Award.

Honda does business with 692 OEM suppliers across North America which provide parts to the company’s 18 plants in the region that produce Honda and Acura cars and light trucks and the engines and transmissions that power them.

Service Parts Supplier Awards
Honda honored 19 suppliers for excellent performance in providing service parts that serve the needs of customers after purchasing Honda or Acura products. Honda Service Parts supplier awards reflect a supplier’s combined performance in three categories: quality, cost, and delivery.

“Nothing is more important to Honda than the ability to serve the needs of our customers and we appreciate the efforts of our suppliers during the challenging business environment of the past year,” said Mark Wiles, assistant vice president of the Parts Division at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We are working more closely with our suppliers than ever before with a focus on overcoming the supply issues to meet the needs of our customers.”

Honda does business with nearly 1,200 service parts suppliers in North America to provide service and accessory parts for more than 20 million Honda and Acura automobiles in operation in the United States, as well as service parts for powersports and power equipment products. Honda manages a national network of parts and distribution facilities that deliver high-quality and value service parts to Honda and Acura dealers nationwide as well as supporting global parts operations.
