Fast Facts: 2003 Honda FCX

The hydrogen-powered Honda FCX is the only fuel cell vehicle certified by both the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and EPA as a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) for everyday use. It uses compressed hydrogen from a 5,000 psi tank and a Ballard-supplied fuel cell to produce its zero emission power. Power and efficiency are further enhanced by an advanced ultra capacitor developed exclusively by Honda for use in the FCX. The FCX features 80 horsepower and a driving range of approximately 160 miles. The city of Los Angeles became the first commercial customer of an EPA-certified fuel cell vehicle in December 2002.
