Acura CL Leads Luxury Coupe Market With Class and Distinction

With outstanding performance, responsive handling, sleek neoclassic styling and best-in-class luxury appointments, the Acura CL luxury sports coupes are a winning combination with the perfect balance of sportiness and sophistication.

For 1999 the stylish CL coupe is available in two distinct models - the 2.3CL, featuring a powerful 2.3-liter, 150 horsepower, 4-cylinder engine and the 3.0CL, with a finely tuned 3.0-liter, 200 horsepower, V-6 engine. Both engines include Acura's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system for outstanding low-end torque and high-rpm power and neither require a scheduled tune-up for the first 100,000 miles.

While a smooth-shifting 5-speed manual is standard on the 2.3CL, an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission is standard on the 3.0CL and optional on the 2.3CL. The sophisticated automatic also features Acura's Grade Logic Control System to reduce unwanted shifts or "hunting" while driving up or down grades.

The 2.3CL and 3.0CL models feature front-wheel drive for excellent, all-weather traction coupled with a four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, for sporty handling and a smooth ride. Both models also feature four-wheel disc brakes and a standard Antilock Braking System (ABS) for secure stops.

The 3.0CL offers the highest number of standard features in its class, including an Automatic climate control system, premium Acura/Bose® AM/FM/CD music system, power driver's seat, power windows, door mirrors, and moon, roof, remote keyless entry, security system and an electronic immobilizer system. Additional features on the '99 CL include'heated front seats on the 3.0CL and a leather-trimmed interior that is now standard on all CL models.

The HomeLink® Universal Transceiver is a standard feature on all CL models for 1999 and replaces the need for garage door openers or other electronic control devices that often clutter the visor area. The transmitter can hold codes for up to three remote controlled devices, and may be used to operate a garage door opener, house lights, security gate or a variety of devices.

For 1999, both CL models include a trunk-mounted cargo net and offer new exterior colors including, Titanium Metallic and Milano Red.

Now joined by the company's second US-assembled model, the new 1999 3.2TL luxury sedan, the CL was the first Acura model designed, engineered and assembled exclusively in the United States.

Like all Acura molels, the CL coupes are covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Additional ownership benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC) which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing.
