Acura Introduces 1992 Models

The Acura Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. introduced today its full 1992 lineup of six distinct Acura models. The 1992 models reflect subtle changes and improvements and additional features that further enhance the appeal of the entire Acura line-up.

Now well into its sixth year of existence, Acura offers a full range of models, from the Integra sports sedans to the revolutionary NSX midengined exotic sports car. "From its first sale in 1986, Acura has sold a total of 668,751 automobiles, as of August 31,1991. And despite a 13% decline in sales for the industry as a whole, Acura sales are just as strong as last year," stated Ed Taylor, vice president, Acura Division.

The all-aluminum NSX exotic sports car is essentially unchanged for the 1992 model year. Its 3.0-liter V-6 engine features Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC), and a Variable Volume Induction System (VVIS) for high power output and impressive drive ability.

The state-of-the-art chassis includes double-wishbone suspension, 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, and a 4-channel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). A new exterior paint color debuts for the 1992 model year--the NSX is now available in Grand Prix White.

The sophisticated Legend Sedan and Legend Coupe return for the 1992 model year after a complete redesign for 1991. A 3.2-liter, 24-valve, 200, horsepower, all-aluminum, longitudinally mounted V-6 engine powers all Legend models, with double-wishbone suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) standard. All Legend Coupe models, and all L and LS Legend Sedan models, are equipped with both driver's and passenger's side Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) air bags for 1992.

The 1992 Vigor performance sports sedan was introduced in the spring of 1991. Powered by an innovative 2.5-liter, 20-valve, longitudinally mounted, all-aluminum 5-cylinder engine, the Vigor also features double-wishbone suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, driver's side Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) air bag and an Anti-Lock Braking System CABS).Finefinished wood accents highlight the interior of each Vigor, which includes such amenities as air conditioning and an eight-speaker stereo/cassette audio system. The GS model Vigor includes a leather-trimmed interior, a power moonroof and an advanced Digital Signal Processor (DSP) audio system that electronically emulates anyone of six distinct listening environments.

1992 Integra 3-door and 4-door sports sedans feature a subtly redesigned front and rear, and a revised version of the 1.B-liter, 4-valve-per-cylinder, dual overhead camshaft, all-aluminum inline 4-cylinder engine. Peak output is now 140 horsepower, an increase of 10 horsepower. The sophisticated chassis features double-wishbone suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) on GS models. The interior is trimmed with rich moquette fabric; Flint Black GS models are available with optional leather-trimmed seat surfaces.
