Acura Posts November Record On Strength of All-New 2005 RL

Strong demand for the all-new RL helped drive November Acura sales to its 13th consecutive record-breaking month, with total division sales of 15,532 vehicles, surpassing the previous November record of 14,423 set in 2003, by 12.2 percent, Acura announced today. Year-to-date, Acura sales rose to 178,773 units, up 15.1 percent compared to 2003. In its first full month on sale, the dramatically redesigned RL sold 1,941 units, its best month ever, eclipsing the previous record of 1,880 set in March of 1996.

"We knew demand for the all-new RL would be strong because of the dynamic new styling, added performance, the Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive System, and vast array of new features and technology," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, auto sales. "These early results give us great momentum and should boost Acura sales close to the 200,000 mark for the year."

The TL performance luxury sedan was the top-selling Acura model for the 14th straight month and posted a new November sales record, selling 5,839 units, up 8.5 percent over last year. Year-to-date TL sales jumped to 70,684, exceeding last year by 38.8 percent. Additionally, the MDX luxury SUV set a new November sales record, up 8.0 percent compared to 2003, with sales of 5,124 units surpassing the previous record of 4,940 vehicles set last year. Year-to-date MDX sales increased to 53,267, up 3.4 percent compared to 2003.
