Honda Rearview Report: October 3 - October 9, 2015

"Honda is committed to helping promote a better understanding of manufacturing and the opportunities that exist for young people to take up a career in this increasingly high-tech, high- skill field. So, in recognition of National Manufacturing Day, this week we hosted more than 1,700 students at two Honda plants in Ohio and Alabama.

Bringing students, in traditional Honda fashion, “to the spot,” enabled them to take up tools and experience for themselves the many advanced technologies being utilized in a world-class manufacturing environment. Alabama students also visited a career fair with vocational schools and community colleges that represent a pathway to a manufacturing career.

The development of a next-generation manufacturing workforce is critical to support the estimated 3.5 million U.S. manufacturing jobs that will need to be filled during the next decade. Today, it’s expected that 2 million of these jobs will go unfilled due to manufacturers’ inability to find employees with the required skills.

We take great pride in our 33 years of manufacturing products in America and we want to encourage the next-generation of potential workers and leaders to consider a career in this field, by fueling their passion for the math and science skills required to support a thriving manufacturing sector."
