This past Friday, November 1, European Supercross fans had an opportunity to see some of the top Supercross riders in the world compete at the Palasport Fiera in Genoa, Italy, and the Honda Red Riders gave them quite a show, sweeping the podium at the 2013 "Superbowl of Supercross."
Team Honda Muscle Milk's Justin Barcia was crowned King of Genoa after an impressive 2-1 performance, followed by teammate Trey Canard who landed second overall with his 1-2 scores. The American Honda duo were each other's biggest rivals on the track, going head-to-head during each moto and scoring equal points; Barcia ultimately took the victory with the stronger second moto. Rounding out to podium was GEICO Honda's Wil Hahn who scored third overall with a pair of third place finishes on his CRF450R.
"This is my third time racing the Genoa Supercross, so to finally come out with the win feels amazing," stated Barcia. "This is one of my favorite races of the year and the fans are always so awesome. It was a good day for sure. I battled a lot with Trey and we swapped positions in the motos, so I got the win at the end of day. With the 2014 season so close, these are great races to use as practice as well as getting some additional testing in. I'm looking forward to competing in the Bercy Supercross as well."
"Overall I am very happy with how things went in Genoa," said Canard. "It felt really good to be the fastest in practice and heat race, as well as to win the first moto. I felt really good in the second moto but wasn't able to make the pass on Justin. This is a fun event and the fans are great—you can hear them cheering during the race."
All three riders will compete later this week in the Supercross Paris-Bercy at the Palais Omnisports stadium.
