Sophisticated 1998 Acura TL Adds More Luxury And Value

Like its siblings, the Acura TL Series of touring luxury sedans shares similar Acura family traits, such as a sophisticated design, luxury appointments and a deeply-rooted performance orientation. But what makes the TL Series stand out in its class for 1998 is the addition of more luxury amenities while maintaining its competitive price point.

The innovative Acura TL Series, available in two distinct models - the sophisticated 3.2TL and sporty 2.5TL - provides state-of-the-art features and performance in a mid-luxurymodel.

New for 1998, the 2.5TL and 3.2TL models have each been streamlined into a single trim level.

"By adding more standard features to the 2.5TL and 3.2TL, the TL Series becomes an even greater value in this market," said Rich Thomas, Acura's executive vice president and general manager.

The 3.2TL is powered by a 200-horsepower, 3.2-liter V-6 engine, which does not require a tune up for 100,000 miles, while the 2.5TL offers a 2.S-liter, 176-horsepower, inline 5-cylinder engme.

Both TL models are equipped with an advanced, computer-controlled, four-speed automatic transmission incorporating Acura's Grade Logic Control System which minimizes unnecessary shifts on both up and downhill terrain.

With a full complement of features previously available only with the Premium Package, the 1998 2.5TL offers more standard equipment including leather-trimmed interior, a power moonroof and keyless entry. The 3.2TL additionally now features heated front seats and mirrors as standard equipment.

"Since day one, Acura has been a leader in the luxury import market," said Thomas. "Our sound engineering and reliable performance record has enabled Acura to maintain customer loyalty throughout the years."

Standard safety features on the TL Series include driver's and front passenger's air bags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), front and rear crumple zones, side-impact door beams, 3-point outboard seat belts, childproof rear door locks and 5-mph front and rear bumpers.

The TL line is designed to combine the comfort of a luxury sedan with the performance of a sports sedan. The exterior styling boasts a distinctive front grille and a carefully sculpted shape while the interior is filled with thoughtful details to create a cabin of uncommon comfort.

To maximize interior space, and provide the rear occupants with ample knee and foot room, the TL was designed with a long wheelbase. This design allows the creation of greater cargo room and also provides a smoother ride over rough pavement.

The TL models feature a full array of gratifying comfort and convenience amenities asstandard equipment, including an automatic climate control system, power windows and door locks, electronic cruise control, an eight-way power driver's seat and a high-defInition AM/FM cassette music system with eight speakers and CD player. In addition, the TL Series is offered in a new exterior color for 1998- Crystal Blue Metallic.

Like all Acura models the 2.5TL and the 3.2TL are covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Additional ownership benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC), which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing.
