Statement by American Honda Regarding Seat Slide Rivet Recall: 2018 Acura MDX, Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline

  • 5,827 Honda and Acura vehicles are affected in the United States
  • Front seat frame components will be replaced, for free
  • No reports of related crashes or injuries

American Honda will voluntarily recall 5,827 model-year 2018 Acura MDX, Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline vehicles in the United States to replace front seat frame components, for free. Affected vehicles were potentially assembled with driver and/or front passenger powered seats that used improperly manufactured rivets to secure the seat slide rails to the forward seat feet. In the event of a crash, the rivets can break and allow the front seat(s) to separate from the vehicle floor, increasing the risk of injury to the seated occupant. Honda has received no reports of crashes or injuries related to this condition.

Honda and Acura are announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda or Acura. Mailed notification to customers will begin in late-May 2018. Owners of these models can also determine if their specific vehicles are included in the recall by visiting www.recalls.honda.com and www.recalls.acura.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
